How to Apply

Selection Process & Guidelines for Eligibility

  • All current juniors, lowers and uppers interested in Learning in the World programs who have completed an application before the associated program deadline will be considered for participation.
  • Those students who have not previously participated in a summer, semester, or year-long Learning in the World program will be given priority consideration.
  • Within any applicant pool, further priority will be given to rising uppers and rising seniors (current lowers and uppers) who have not previously participated in a Learning in the World program.
  • Students who apply to a Learning in the World program after the application deadline will be placed on the associated waitlist.
  • Final candidates will be selected by program leaders in consultation with the Dean of Studies, Dean of Students, the Sykes Center team, and the Financial Aid Office.

If you are a current PA student interested in applying to a Learning in the World program and have read the above “Eligibility and Selection Process” section, please access the online application form (Andover credentials required).

Financial Aid

We are committed to offering need-based financial aid for any Andover student who is selected for a Learning in the World program.

Process for Travel Requests from Student Groups

You must ask the adult advisor to your student group/club to fill out the following form before making travel arrangements, if you are a Phillips Academy student who is seeking to:

  • Participate in an event, competition, or other activity that requires travel and at least one overnight 
  • Request sponsorship from the school to support this travel
  • Apply for an Abbot Academy Association grant to support the overnight travel
